Another busy day La Noria and El Quelite visits

Sunday p.m.
Just woke up from a nap! Woke up this morning at 3 a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep. Got up and read. It got cold here last night too cold for the little electric heater to keep it comfortable in here.
Yesterday we were all over the place with our friends. And now she is already on the airplane on her way home!!! Tom will be here until Wednesday. When they left Indiana it was warm, now it is snowing. Lovely weather.
Picked them up about 10 o’clock Saturday morning and zipped out to La Noria. It was in the low 70s here in town but over 90 just 20 miles inland. We stopped at the leather shop and watched the owner’s son work on a book bag for school. It would make a nice purse too.
Carolyn ended up buying a couple pairs of sandals. Bill got another piece of leather for his collection. He sure is going to be busy when we get home. Looked around town a little then stopped at the tequila distillery where we watched them bottle some tequila.
From there we went to El Quelite to have lunch. It is a really pretty little town. The buildings are very colorful and well maintained and the plants are amazing. Some ferns outside of one of the ice cream shops.
We ate in our favorite restaurant – Everything they serve and use is from the surrounding area. A display of the table cloths and dishes they use. They were for sale of course.
And of course a picture of Lola the resident parrot. She was excited about something yesterday. Squawking at the top of her lungs. Didn’t see the iguanas though.
Riding around town afterwards we were again reminded of the many faces of Mexico. Patiently waiting for his rider who was in a little store.
And the ever present overloaded ATV.
Back into town to do some more walking around and checking souvenir stands out. If you plastic chair cracks – just mend it. A hot nail to make a hole and a little bit of strong twine and it is just like new. Seemed to be working fine.
Saw this really cute purse. The dolls are three dimension. The more I think about it the more I think I should have bought it. Maybe if I see another one…..
Came across this women getting ready to do some weaving. She is just hooking herself to her loom. Notice her bare feet.
Starting to weave.
A close up of her face. Beautiful isn't it.
A busy day. We came home and Tom and Carolyn got to enjoy a little together time. Started out early again this morning by going out to breakfast at the restaurant across the street on the beach.

  1. I have to say your blog is one of the most interesting, and your pictures are really tops. You show the things I would notice on a walk through town such as the repaired plastic chair. Also the shots of merchandise in the stores. Very enjoyable
